I chose to study Japanese because I love Japan and Japanese culture. I hope that one day, I'll get to live in Japan, even if it's for a short time. Though I studied Japanese in high school for four years, I don't have a strong foundation in kanji and I'm still struggling with Japanese grammar (´-ω-`). I've visited Japan twice and I still couldn't order anything on the menu without waiters and waitresses being very confused.
These past four weeks have been easier for me, because the lessons have been more of a review of what I've learned in high school. However, now we're starting to learn more particles and counters, so I'm a little nervous. Like my blog title says, I'm especially scared of kanji! Even though I'm Taiwanese, I don't know how to read or write any Chinese characters (´;︵;`).
Nonetheless, I'm excited to use what I learn in this class when I visit Japan again ೕ(•̀ㅂ•́ ).
I've heard that learning Kanji is not so bad once you get into it. From what I understand, there's a lot of memorization involved, but there is also a certain logic behind the system which makes it easier to learn. So don't worry too much, we're all in the same boat!
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that it'll get easier once we start getting into Kanji! There's definitely a lot of memorization, but also trying to figure out which meaning that is being used in the sentence will be pretty nerve wracking! I feel as though the multiple readings for the few kanji we know are okay so far, but I can only wonder how tough the other characters will be.
